Scholarships for New Graduate Students

We recognize that graduate school is a significant investment in your future.  

St. Catherine University is committed to helping make graduate education more affordable. In addition to offering full access to federal and state aid, military and veteran aid, and other resources, St. Kate’s offers a variety of scholarships and grants for new graduate students, including leadership, alumni, and corporate and community partnerships.

Funding is limited — for best consideration, apply for admission early.

Scholarship opportunities vary by program. To learn more, select a program from the menu* below.

Scholarships by Program

New MBA students enrolling in Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 may be eligible for funding from these resources:

  • Alumni Scholarship
    For graduates of a St. Catherine University associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program. 

           Award amount: $2,000

  • Corporate and Community Partner Scholarship
    For students employed at one of St. Catherine University’s corporate or community partners

    Award amount: Equivalent to 10% of tuition, at prevailing tuition rates

     

New degree-seeking Montessori students enrolling in Summer 2023 or Spring 2024 may be eligible for funding from these resources:

  • Montessori Leadership for Social Justice Scholarship
    Based on a holistic review of the application file (including admission essay, resume, recommendations and transcripts), this scholarship is awarded to new students who demonstrate the following: An understanding and commitment to the social justice mission of the program and University; potential for leadership; previous academic accomplishment; and understanding and capacity for advancing the University's commitment to serve underserved audiences.

           Award amount: $2,000 (MAED: Education & Leadership); $5,000 (MAED: Elementary Montessori Education)

  • Alumni Scholarship
    For graduates of a St. Catherine University associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program. 

           Award amount: $2,000

  • Corporate and Community Partner Scholarship
    For students employed at one of St. Catherine University’s corporate or community partners

    Award amount: Equivalent to 10% of tuition, at prevailing tuition rates

New degree-seeking Master of Arts in Holistic Health Studies (MAHS) students enrolling in Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 may be eligible for funding from these resources:

  • Innovation in Holistic Health Scholarship
    Based on a holistic review of the application file (including admission essay, resume, recommendations and transcripts), this scholarship is awarded to new students who demonstrate the following: An understanding and commitment to the social justice mission of the program and University, and to addressing health inequities; potential for leadership; previous academic accomplishment; and understanding and capacity for advancing the University's commitment to serve underserved audiences.

           Award amount: $5,000

  • Alumni Scholarship
    For graduates of a St. Catherine University associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program. 

           Award amount: $2,000

  • Corporate and Community Partner Scholarship
    For students employed at one of St. Catherine University’s corporate or community partners. This scholarship is available to MAHS and Certificate students.

    Award amount: Equivalent to 10% of tuition, at prevailing tuition rates

After enrolling, Holistic Health Studies may qualify for awards from the Jeannette Buczynski Kissinger Scholarship Fund. Information about award eligibility is provided by the department during the fall semester.

New students in the Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) and School Library Media Licensure (SLMS) programs for Summer 2023,  Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 may be eligible for funding from these resources:

  • Information Equity and Inclusion Scholarship
    Based on a holistic review of the application file (including admission essay, resume, recommendations and transcripts), this scholarship is awarded to new students who demonstrate the following: An understanding and commitment to the social justice mission of the program and University; potential for leadership; previous academic accomplishment; and a commitment to promoting equity through the access, use, evaluation, sharing, and creation of information.

           Award amount: $8,000

  • Alumni Scholarship
    For graduates of a St. Catherine University associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program. 

           Award amount: $2,000

  • Corporate and Community Partner Scholarship
    For students employed at one of St. Catherine University’s corporate or community partners

    Award amount: Equivalent to 10% of tuition, at prevailing tuition rates

New degree-seeking Nurse Practitioner and Post-Master's DNP students enrolling in Fall 2024 may be eligible for scholarship funding from these resources:

  • Leadership in Nursing Scholarship
    Based on a holistic review of the application file (including admission essay, resume, recommendations and transcripts), this scholarship is awarded to new students who demonstrate the following: An understanding and commitment to the social justice mission of the program and University, and to addressing health inequities; potential for leadership; previous academic accomplishment; and understanding and capacity for advancing the University's commitment to serve underserved audiences.

           Award amount: $2,000

  • Alumni Scholarship
    For graduates of a St. Catherine University associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program. 

           Award amount: $3,000

  • Corporate and Community Partner Scholarship
    For students employed at one of St. Catherine University’s corporate or community partners. This scholarship is available to DNP and Certificate students.

    Award amount: Equivalent to 10% of tuition, at prevailing tuition rates

The Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP) is available for qualifying students in St. Catherine University's DNP program. Awards cover up to a full year of tuition, required fees, and a book allowance (up to $35,000 per year).

New Master of Science in Nursing (MSN): Entry-Level students enrolling in Spring 2024 may be eligible for funding from these resources:

  • Leadership in Nursing Scholarship
    Based on a holistic review of the application file (including admission essay, resume, recommendations and transcripts), this scholarship is awarded to new students who demonstrate the following: An understanding and commitment to the social justice mission of the program and University, and to addressing health inequities; potential for leadership; previous academic accomplishment; and understanding and capacity for advancing the University's commitment to serve underserved audiences.

           Award amount: $5,000

New Master of Science in Nursing (MSN): Nurse Educator or Nursing Informatics students enrolling in Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 may be eligible for funding from these resources:

  • Leadership in Nursing Scholarship
    Based on a holistic review of the application file (including admission essay, resume, recommendations and transcripts), this scholarship is awarded to new students who demonstrate the following: An understanding and commitment to the social justice mission of the program and University, and to addressing health inequities; potential for leadership; previous academic accomplishment; and understanding and capacity for advancing the University's commitment to serve underserved audiences.

           Award amount: $1,000

  • Alumni Scholarship
    For graduates of a St. Catherine University associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program. 

           Award amount: $2,000

  • Corporate and Community Partner Scholarship
    For students employed at one of St. Catherine University’s corporate or community partners.

    Award amount: Equivalent to 10% of tuition, at prevailing tuition rates

    For graduates of a St. Catherine University associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program. 

           Award amount: $3,000

  • Corporate and Community Partner Scholarship
    For students employed at one of St. Catherine University’s corporate or community partners.

    Award amount: Equivalent to 10% of tuition, at prevailing tuition rates

 

New Entry-Level and Dual-Degree MSND students enrolling in Fall 2024 may be eligible for:

  • Scholarship Funding

           Awarded from scholarship funds created in honor of the following retired and emeritus faculty and alumnae members: Sister James Agnes Fogarty, The Frics Family, and Kathryn T. Kotula.

           Award amounts: $750 - $3,000

  • Assistantships

           Depending on faculty needs per semester, opportunities may be available to work as a paid research or teaching assistant. Once enrolled in the graduate program, students will be notified about upcoming opportunities by their department.

 

New Entry-Level Occupational Therapy students enrolling in Summer 2024 may be eligible for the following:

  • Alumni Scholarship
    For graduates of a St. Catherine University associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program. 

           Award amount: $3,000

(current St. Kate's students enrolling as dual-degree are not eligible for the alumni scholarship)

New Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD): Post-professional students enrolling in Summer 2024 may be eligible for funding from these resources:

  • Leadership in Healthcare Scholarship

    Award amount: Equivalent to 10% of tuition, at prevailing tuition rates

New degree-seeking Organizational Leadership (MAOL) students enrolling in Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 may be eligible for funding from these resources:

  • Social Justice and Leadership Scholarship
    Based on a holistic review of the application file (including admission essay, resume, recommendations and transcripts), this scholarship is awarded to new students who demonstrate the following: An understanding and commitment to the social justice mission of the program and University; potential for leadership; previous academic accomplishment; and a commitment to promoting effective, ethical and enduring leadership practices.

           Award amount: $1,000

  • Alumni Scholarship
    For graduates of a St. Catherine University associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program. 

           Award amount: $2,000

  • Corporate and Community Partner Scholarship
    For students employed at one of St. Catherine University’s corporate or community partners. This scholarship is available to MAOL and Certificate students.

    Award amount: Equivalent to 10% of tuition, at prevailing tuition rates

New Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) students enrolling in Fall 2024 may be eligible for the following:

  • Alumni Scholarship
    For graduates of a St. Catherine University associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program. 

           Award amount: $3,000

(current St. Kate's students enrolling as dual-degree are not eligible for the alumni scholarship)

  • First-Year Scholarship
    Based on a holistic review of the PTCAS application file, this scholarship is awarded to new students based on the following criteria: academic merit, evidence of service and leadership, and capacity to contribute to the diversity of the profession. All program candidates will be considered for this scholarship; no additional materials or application are required.

         Award amount: $2,500 - $5,000

First-Year and Second-Year DPT students may apply for the following:

  • Debra Ough Sellheim Endowed Scholarship
    This scholarship is awarded based on the following criteria: service to St. Catherine University, the physical therapy profession, and/or the community; excellence in teaching and learning; and dedication to the development of others. Interested students should contact the DPT Department for more information about the application process.

        Award amount: $1,000 - $1,500

Second-Year DPT students may be eligible for the following:

  • Marilyn Woods and Stephanie Lunning Endowed Scholarship
    Selection for this award is based on financial need (as determined by the Office of Financial Aid), and by demonstration of the following: service to others; advocacy; commitment to social justice; and commitment to excellence. All Second-Year students will be considered for this scholarship; no additional materials or application are required.

        Award amount: $1,000 - $2,000

In addition to scholarships offered through the University, students may wish to pursue funding awarded by other organizations

New Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) students enrolling in Fall 2024 may be eligible for the following:

  • Alumni Scholarship
    For graduates of a St. Catherine University associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program. 

           Award amount: $3,000

New students may also be considered for MPAS Department Scholarships.

New Entry-Level Master of Public Health (MPH) in Global Health students enrolling in Fall 2024 may be eligible for funding from these resources: 

  • Alumni Scholarship
    For graduates of a St. Catherine University associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program. 

           Award amount: $3,000

(current St. Kate's students enrolling as dual-degree are not eligible for the alumni scholarship)

  • Corporate and Community Partner Scholarship
    For students employed at one of St. Catherine University’s corporate or community partners.

    Award amount: Equivalent to 10% of tuition, at prevailing tuition rates

GHR Foundation Support
Current MPH students may be eligible for funding from the Gerald and Henrietta Rauenhorst (GHR) Foundation to help offset travel costs related to international practicum experiences.

New Master of Social Work (MSW) students enrolling in Summer/Fall 2024 may be eligible for funding from these resources:

  • Alumni Scholarship: St. Catherine University
    For graduates of a St. Catherine University associate, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree program. 

           Award amount: $500 per term (Advanced Standing), $750 per term (Regular Standing)

  • Alumni Scholarship: Partner Colleges
    For applicants who have completed a bachelor's degree from one of the following schools: 

    • Bemidji State University (Minnesota)
    • Bethel University (Minnesota)
    • College of St. Benedict/St. John's University (Minnesota)
    • College of St. Scholastica (Minnesota)
    • Concordia College-Moorhead (Minnesota)
    • Luther College (Iowa)
    • Metropolitan State University (Minnesota)
    • North Central University (Minnesota)
    • St. Olaf College (Minnesota)
