Information Regarding Federal Student Loan Relief and Repayment

Federal student loan interest will resume starting on Sept. 1, 2023. If you have entered repayment, your payments will be due starting in October. Please log into with your FSA ID to find your loan servicer name and contact information. Make sure your servicer has your up to date contact information. You may also review your payment plan with them to be sure you are on the best plan for your situation.
Also, be aware of scams. Federal loan servicers will not ask you to pay them to help set up repayment. Federal student loan repayments do not resume until October. Anyone claiming that payments start sooner may not be a legitimate servicer. Always contact your servicer directly through their website and not through an email.
Private lenders require payment based on your choice at the time of application. Please contact your private lender if you have any questions regarding repayment for any private loans. Private lenders do not follow the same repayment options as federal lenders.

Beware of Scams

You might be contacted by companies who claim they can help with loan discharge, forgiveness, cancellation, or debt relief for a fee. Please remember you never have to pay for help with your federal student aid. Be sure to work only with the U.S. Department of Education Office of Federal Student Aid, and their loan servicers, and never reveal your personal information or account password. If you receive an email and doubt its authenticity, log into to confirm your loan servicer name and contact information. And whenever possible, log into your servicer website from rather than following links sent from third parties.
