Welcome Home, Katies!
We are so excited to welcome you to campus this fall!
Living on campus is the best way to be a connected Katie, make lasting friendships, and be a successful student. Your residence hall is more than just a place to sleep, it's where your St. Kate's story begins.
Move-in day is fast approaching, so be sure to read this page and check your St. Kate's email to stay up to date.
We can't wait to see you on move-in day, it's going to be a great day!
Get Ready for Move-In Day
Start by reviewing the packing guide and planning what you'll need for your new home. Remember, less is more! Bring the essentials and pick up anything else once you're settled. If you do need to grab a few things, think sustainably by shopping secondhand or sourcing free boxes from grocery stores or buy-nothing groups.
Don't forget to connect with your roommate ahead of time to coordinate who is bringing what. It'll save you both time and money and keep your new home from feeling overcrowded!
Before You Arrive
- Label all belongings with your name, hall, room number, and cell phone number
- Check your St. Kate's email for campus maps and gate entry instructions
- Review the at-curb unloading instructions
- Mark your move-in date and time on your calendar
- Submit your student ID photo if applicable
What to Expect on Move-In Day
Before you arrive, save yourself time by completing your online check-in through the Housing Cloud link sent to your St. Kate's email. Don't forget to bring your ID or Katie Card for check-in on the day!
If you're planning to loft your bed, review the lofting procedure here ahead of time. You'll need to watch the video in order to receive your lofting pins.
Arriving on Campus
Arrive at your hall during your assigned move-in window. Katies will be on hand to guide you to the right location, help you unload, and direct you to parking. Rauenhorst, Morrison, Caecilian, and St. Mary Hall residents will check in at the front of their assigned hall.
Stop, Drop, and Roll!
While you're checking in and receiving your keys, our movers will unload your vehicle and have everything staged outside your hall ready to be carted in. They're there to make your day as smooth and stress free as possible — the only thing you need to move is yourself and your excitement for the year ahead!
A Quick Note on Elevators
Elevator use may be restricted during move-in to keep things moving smoothly for everyone. Students and guests who are able will be directed to the stairs.
Please note:
Only NEW students are eligible for curbside unloading and mover assistance.
All other students including Katie’s Embark, Honors, LLC, transfers, and returning students will receive their specific move-in details via their St. Kate’s email.
Your St. Kate’s Photo ID

Using your card at the dining venues
- If your ID card photo is submitted before check in, your meal plan will be pre-programmed on the card. If you need to have an ID created at move-in, or if you lose your card later, it will take a few hours for your meal plan to activate on your new card.
- You will use your card at the various dining locations to utilize your meal plan. Additional dining information is available on the Chartwells Dining Services website.
- If you experience any issues using your meal plan, please contact Housing Operations at residencelife@stkate.edu. The friendly staff in the dining room can assist you.

All students are assigned a move-in window to lessen the burden on movers and staff. It is important to arrive during your assigned move window. If you move in during a time that you were not assigned there may not be the staffing to check you into your room and your space may not be prepared for your arrival.
If you arrive early, check out a local coffee shop, the Bookstore, or walk around the beautiful Highland Park Neighborhood.
If you arrive late, the movers may not be able to move all of your items into your assigned room.
Movers only apply to students eligible for curbside move in.
The movers are gentle, yet efficient. The movers take caution with all items and will unload all of the items from the vehicle.
If you are concerned about a fragile item (TV, mirror, gaming console) please move the item yourself.
Elevator use may be restricted at this time to ensure a smooth move in for everyone. All students and guests will be directed to take the stairs if able.
Movers only apply to students eligible for curbside move in.
We highly encourage all Katies to think sustainability during move in. Pack in rented or reusable totes, laundry baskets, or reused boxes to reduce waste during move in.
If you have cardboard waste ensure all tape, liners, and packing materials are removed before flattening the boxes; the boxes can not be recycled if any of these remain.
Take the flattened boxes outside to a dumpster.
