Butler Center Reopening: Next Phase Update — September 29, 2020

Dear St. Catherine Community,

We are pleased to share that the Butler Center is moving forward with the next phase of its reopening plan. Beginning Wednesday, September 30, resident students will have access to the cardio room, group fitness studio, and front weight room. Then, in two weeks, we will revisit the plan and current case data to determine whether we are ready to proceed to the next phase and open the facility to all students. Once all students have access, the same timeline will be used to evaluate when to open to faculty and staff. We will continue to keep you notified throughout the reopening process.

The outdoor tennis courts are also being opened to the larger community at this time. When using, please remember to follow social distance and mask guidelines.

All campus reopening decisions prioritize the health and safety of our community members as we continue to work to limit the spread and impact of COVID-19 on campus.

Policies and procedures for Butler Center use are aligned with guidelines and requirements set forth by the State of Minnesota and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), as well as the University’s gradual and phased approach to reopening campus facilities. As part of these efforts, equipment has been adjusted to meet social distancing requirements, users must sign-up in advance and wear masks at all times, and cleaning and disinfection schedules and protocols are in place. Resident students will receive more information soon, including hours and directions on how to sign up for a time to use the Butler Center.

This plan — as with all our safely returning to campus efforts — only works if we all continue to commit to care for each other and remain diligent in our efforts. Please continue to follow the policies and procedures in the Preparedness Plan and:

  • Complete the daily symptom screening
  • Stay home if you’re sick
  • Wear your mask
  • Maintain social distance
  • Wash your hands

Thank you for your ongoing partnership,
