Welcome! CID is excited to kick off your Fall Break and host the Cine Latino FILM Festival - Twin Cities Immersion at the The Main Theater. LIMITED SPACE AVAILABLE! First come first serve (just 12 van spaces available).

  • Time: Film starts at 5:00pm

Event Overview:

Kick off Fall Break with CID by attending the Cine Latino Film Festival! Dive into Latin American culture, art, and stories through film while engaging with the Latine community in the Twin Cities. Enjoy a featured film, local food trucks, live performances, and more!

Selected Film:

Film Title: Igualada
Igualada follows Afro-Colombian Francia Márquez’s inspiring rise from rural activist to Vice President of Colombia. The documentary highlights her fight for equality, freedom, and social justice while navigating challenges tied to her ethnic origin, gender, and social class. Márquez’s story of resilience and leadership reflects CID’s commitment to identity-based learning and social justice. Her journey emphasizes the significance of civic engagement and the power of marginalized voices, especially as we approach the 2024 election. Students are encouraged to consider their roles in shaping their communities and advocating for justice.

Event Schedule:

4:00 PM – St. Kate’s Van leaves for The Main Theater
4:45 PM – Arrival at The Main Cinema
5:00 PM – Film Screening
6:30 PM – Q&A with Filmmaker (if applicable)
7:00 PM – Explore Food Trucks, Music, and Performances
8:00 PM – End of Event, drive back to St. Kates
