Colleen Powers is an experienced educator and sport management professional with a background spanning collegiate instruction, athlete development and coaching, and leadership education. She has been a full time head softball coach at St. Kate's for the past 13 years, and has experience coaching at West Texas A&M University, Central Michigan University, and youth- high school varsity teams. She began her teaching career at Central Michigan University, where she served as a graduate assistant in the Sport Management program and taught activity based courses for the Exercise Science Department. After completing her graduate studies, Colleen joined St. Catherine University, teaching in the Exercise and Sport Science (EXSS) Department. She instructed Fitness & Wellness (EXSS 1100), helping students build foundational knowledge in health, behavior change, and lifelong wellness practices. Colleen currently teaches in St. Kate’s Business Administration program within the Leadership and Influence minor. Her teaching focuses on developing effective, empathetic, and ethically minded leaders through experiential learning, reflective practice, and real-world application. Across her academic roles, Colleen is known for her relational teaching approach, her commitment to student growth, and her ability to bridge the worlds of sport, leadership, and organizational development.
