Ballet Minnesota Presents: The Classic Nutcracker

Ballet Minnesota’s annual holiday tradition, The Classic Nutcracker, returns to The O’Shaughnessy for another season of magic, tradition, and spectacular dancing.

Experience the full-length, classic Nutcracker ballet, featuring beautiful costumes and sets, a talented cast of dancers, and special guest Principal Dancers from New York City joining Ballet Minnesota for this year’s production.

For those new to the ballet, the story begins on Christmas Eve as young Clara and her mischievous brother, Fritz, celebrate with their family at a festive Christmas party. A mysterious latecomer, Clara’s Godfather Drosselmeyer, arrives with a remarkable gift: a Nutcracker doll.

That night, Clara’s dreams come to life. The Nutcracker battles the fierce Rat King and his army of toy soldiers before transforming into the Nutcracker Prince. He escorts Clara through an enchanted, snow-covered forest and into the magical Kingdom of the Sweets, where she encounters the Sugar Plum Fairy and a dazzling array of characters from around the world.
