St. Kate's College for Women nursing student Ari Marashi '21 serves on the inaugural Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments (ANHE) Student Nurse Committee, beginning in 2020. As the organization's website says, "The ANHE Student Nurse Committee is a unique opportunity for pre-licensure nursing students to explore their passion around environmental health, to engage in peer learning and sharing, and to develop leadership skills in environmental health nursing."
As part of the committee, the student nurses developed educational materials geared to nurses, nursing students, and community members around environmental health and environmental injustices. Marashi was recently featured in the "Nurses for Health Environments" podcast to discuss her project, a flyer on "Environmental Injustices: Severe Winter Weather and Homelessness".
