St. Catherine University's softball team launched their 2016 season with a 12-0 run during their spring break tour and continued their winning ways at their St. Kate's home opener.

Now 13-0, the Wildcats moved up two slots to rank 18th in the nation in Division III of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Individual players are earning Athlete of the Week recognition both at St. Kate's and in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). In addition, Krista Flugstad '18 was nominated for national honors as Division III Softball's HERO of the Week (you can vote for her at HERO Sports) for her spectacular play during the team's spring break tour. In the game over Fontbonne University, she earned a 2-1 complete game victory and struck out a season high 13 batters and gave up just one run on five hits over seven innings.

Colleen Powers is in her third season as coach of the Wildcat Softball team. Last October's St. Catherine University Magazine had this profile of her. Read the current issue and access magazine archives at the St. Catherine University Magazine site.
