Katwalk 2021: The Annual Fashion Show

Looks from St. Kate's 2021 Katwalk fashion show

St. Catherine University, located in St. Paul, MN, is one of the nation’s largest private women's universities. Our mission is to educate women to lead and influence. Housed under the School of Business, the Fashion Design and Merchandising Department at St. Kate's offers rigorous programs of study, preparing career-ready professionals and ethical leaders. With small class sizes, one-on-one mentoring, and a required internship, our graduates pursue careers in the exciting and diverse fashion industry.

Every year St. Catherine University’s Fashion Association (SCUFA) plans, organizes, leads, and fundraises the annual Katwalk Fashion Show. At the Katwalk, senior fashion design students present a capstone collection under the guidance of assistant professor Carol Mager.

Due to COVID restrictions over the last two years, the Katwalk has gone digital, changing the presentation from a runway event to a virtual show. The Katwalk 2021 virtual pre-recorded show displays a stunning array of creative efforts by student designers. Designs span bridal, costume, ready-to-wear, and custom size-inclusive apparel. These students have put their passion and hard work into creating enchanting and innovative looks. They also presented their traditional and e-portfolios for a full departmental review. Anupama Pasricha, PhD, department chair, was very pleased with the student commitment to sustainable and inclusive designs.

Jackie Parr, assistant professor of fashion merchandising and executive secretary of Fashion Group International (FGI) Minneapolis, had a conversation on Instagram Live with the senior fashion design students in our fashion studio lab at St. Catherine University on May 18 as part of FGIMSP’s Sneak Peek Series.

In an upcoming partnership, fashion design students' capstone collections will be exhibited at the Curated Style Designer Showcase at Mall of America through summer 2021. The exhibit will showcase the talent, creativity, and diversity of St. Kate's Fashion Design graduating class of 2021.

“We are so proud of our fashion design and merchandising class of 2021!” – Anupama Pasricha, PhD
