COVID Community Update: Class Format Adjustments for J-term and Spring 2021

Dear St. Catherine Community,

As we approach the end of the semester, we want to again thank you for all you have done to help keep our community healthy and safe.

While we can’t be sure what COVID’s impact will be in the coming months, we recognize that the more clarity and advance notice we can provide now the better you can plan. With that in mind, we are proactively making the following adjustments for J-term and spring semester.

Tier One: Face-to-Face with Online Components

As we monitor the pandemic situation in Minnesota, we know that things can change quickly. The current recommendations are to move courses online to the extent possible. All Tier One courses require face-to-face interactions to meet some student learning objectives, and we plan to continue face-to-face components as necessary. We are asking faculty to deliver any portions of the course that can be done online remotely.

Tier Two: Online Until April 6

Tier Two courses and lab sections will be delivered online through spring/Easter break. Our sincere hope is that we will be able to transition all Tier Two courses back to face-to-face instruction after the break, when we will be through the worst of influenza season, the weather will be more conducive to being outside, and some members of our community are likely to have received the COVID-19 vaccine. However if case data and trends don’t support it at that time, we may need to make additional adjustments.

Thank you for your continued partnership.

Sincerely,
