From the time she was a student at St. Kate’s, Sahra Noor has been an advocate for those who need a voice. She wanted to make things better then, and is still doing so today.
“One of the gifts I got from St. Kate’s was that at a young age, I was told my voice matters and what I have to say is important,” she says. “As I approach leadership, I always think about who I’m not listening to. Who is not at the table?”
Once she received her degree, Noor took a nursing job at the Hennepin County Medical Center and studied for her postgraduate degree. In 2007, she earned a master’s degree in nursing and health systems administration at the University of Minnesota.
Noor grew her leadership in roles at United Health and Fairview Health, all while continuing her education, completing fellowships at the University of Minnesota and George Washington University, and pursuing an executive leadership program through Fairview.
When it comes to leadership, what resonates most for Noor is inclusivity. So she’s put her health practice and leadership training together to build Grit Partners, a strategic health and leadership consultancy, where she helps others create community-based health programs that meet the needs of marginalized populations.
“It’s important for leaders in the industry to be advocates,” Noor says. “We need to tell the stories of those marginalized from our larger healthcare system.”
