The whole St. Catherine University community is invited to join the Feast of Saint Joseph on Monday, March 23. This annual event is a hallmark of St. Kate’s, honoring Saint Joseph and the University’s founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet (CSJs), through a celebration of service, social justice, and community engagement.
There will be a prayer service in Our Lady of Victory Chapel (open to all faiths) followed by an opportunity for attendees to give back through a variety of service projects in the second-floor atrium of Coeur de Catherine. This year’s service projects will include:
- Making "plarn" sleeping mats out of recycled plastic bags with Agate Housing Services
- Creating fleece-tie blankets with Interfaith Action’s Project Home
- "Hola Amigo" note-writing for students with Common Hope
- Constructing "Welcome Home Bags" for people leaving incarceration with Amicus Reconnect Services
- Legislative advocacy letter-writing with the Justice Office for the Sisters of St Joseph
- Making cat toys for shelter animals
- An opportunity to learn more and sign up for service with Today’s Harvest free market
In addition to service projects and the prayer service, this year’s event will also feature refreshments, including heavy appetizers, and a special visit from therapy dogs.
