Athlete of the Week: Rachel Hall '17

Rachel Hall '17

Hall finished fourth out of 95 runners with a time of 22:49.4 and was the fastest Wildcat at the Seven Sisters Championship. That time now stands as the third fastest in program history.

It’s been a fantastic fall for the St. Catherine University cross country team. In their last performance before the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Cross Country Championship, the Wildcats may have put together their best performance of the season. St. Kate’s finished third in the meet, thanks to personal best performances from its top runners. One of those runners was senior Rachel Hall (Mendota Heights, Minn.), who has been named Wildcat Athlete of the Week for her performance in Massachusetts.

Hall returned to the team last week after missing the first month of the season due to injury. She has made her presence known since rejoining the team, with two top-5 finishes in her first two races of the season. While her performance at St. Kate’s Invite two weeks ago was impressive, her run at the Seven Sisters Championship was even better. Hall finished fourth out of 95 runners with a time of 22:49.4 and was the fastest Wildcat at the race. That time was not only a personal record (PR) for the senior — it now stands as the third fastest in program history.

Hall was one of 11 St. Kate’s runners to PR at the Seven Sisters Championship and was one of three to finish in the top-10. The Wildcats finished in third as a team with a combined 62 points behind host Wellesley College, who won the race with the lowest score of 42 points. Smith College's Katherine Stephens won the race as an individual with a time of 22:31.2.
