The Minnesota State Arts Board awards project grants to support touring performance exhibitions and other related arts activities throughout Minnesota. The O’Shaughnessy was one of forty grant recipients awarded on November 1.

The $68,000 grant will allow The O’Shaughnessy to host singer, songwriter, and activist Toshi Reagon and the cast of her operatic adaptation of Parable of the Sower, by Octavia Butler. The residency will include two performances and all ages outreach activities.

“I'm grateful for such generous support, which allows us the opportunity to bring great art to St. Kate’s and our community,” said The O’Shaughnessy Director Kathleen Spehar. “This is another project that will provide excellent opportunities to connect our students with women artists and great art.”
