President ReBecca Koenig Roloff ’76 announced today the hiring of Andrew (Drew) Melendres, MBA, as the senior vice president for enrollment management at St. Catherine University. Melendres was selected for the position following a national search and will join the University in July 2018.

“We are delighted to have Drew as part of the St. Kate’s community and for the leadership he will bring to this position,” said Roloff. “Drew’s deep knowledge of and experience working with private, liberal arts institutions made him a standout candidate. We look forward to the creativity and insights he will bring to this role and helping reach prospective students who are the right fit for the University.”

In his most recent position, Melendres served as the vice president of strategic partnerships at Collegis Education, a higher education enrollment growth management company focused on private, nonprofit schools between 2,000 and 5,000 enrollments. In his role there, he partnered with colleges and universities to aid in better understanding what makes each school unique and distinctive, and bring this message to prospective students that are a good mission and programmatic fit for the institution.

Prior to this, Melendres was the vice president of enrollment management and student affairs at Metropolitan State University, where he increased enrollment through a data-driven reorganization in admissions, a process redesign in enrollment management, and collaborative partnerships with the university and community partners. Concurrently while at Metro State, he served as an associate consultant for Noel-Levitz, a higher education consulting firm, working with small, private colleges and universities on diversifying revenue streams to create continued enrollment growth. Before moving to Minnesota, Melendres worked for Texas Tech University, where he reorganized and launched four regional centers across the state of Texas to help increase the institution’s diverse student population.

Melendres earned his bachelor’s degree in economics at the University of Texas at Austin. He attended Texas Tech University for his graduate studies, where he earned his Master of Business Administration.

“I strongly believe in the mission of St. Catherine University and the role of private, liberal arts colleges in providing higher education opportunities,” said Melendres. “I am excited to join the St. Kate’s team and help future students achieve their educational goals at this great institution.”
