The endowed chairs in women’s education and the liberal arts will host a panel discussion with Saint Catherine University President Marcheta Evans, Saint Catherine University Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary Todd Schnell, and Prof. Jessica West, law scholar and professor at Mitchell Hamline, with a scholarly focus on civil disobedience, activism, and the criminal prosecution of protesters as they discuss the role of universities such as Saint Kate’s in interpreting and navigating the first amendment and threats to free speech while protecting the role and responsibility universities have to supporting the free circulation of ideas and intellectual inquiry.
