As AI proliferates so do public concerns about its ethical, economic, and environmental impacts. This panel focuses on the connections between AI–especially hyper-scale data centers–and environmental racism, which the sociologist Robert D. Bullard defines as, “any policy, practice, or directive that differentially affects or disadvantages (whether intended or unintended) individuals, groups, or communities based on race or color.” Panelists will offer resources for classroom discussion and community action.
