Mary Heppner is an Assistant Professor at the Saint Catherine University College for Women, where she has served as a faculty member since 2020. With a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Saint Catherine University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Bethel University, Mary brings a strong academic foundation to her clinical and classroom teaching. Her professional background is rooted in critical care, including experience in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, and Electrophysiology Lab at Abbott Northwestern.
Professor Heppner is a dedicated scholar and leader in nursing education, currently serving as a faculty mentor, peer-to-peer mentor, and faculty advisor for the Black Student Nurses Association. Her recent research focuses on the intersection of technology and pedagogy, specifically exploring the use of generative artificial intelligence in nursing education. Beyond the classroom, Professor Heppner is collaborating with other nurses to get the National Association of Hispanic Nurses Minnnesota chapter started. She holds a certification of Critical Care Registered Nurse-Knowledge and also held a Cardiac Medicine Certification, reflecting her commitment to maintain high standards of clinical excellence.
