Wildcat Weekend

Calling all Katie Volunteers!

Show your purple pride and celebrate the strength in all women at the 10th annual YWCA Women's Triathlon, Sunday, August 13!


The goal: 75 volunteers.

The mission: dominate the bike course.


Here's the plan:

From 7:00 am – noon on race day, Team Katie volunteers will help patrol the bike race path, cheer on racers, keep an eye out for hazards and make sure everyone enjoys a safe and fun triathlon.

Volunteers are needed along the entire 15 miles of the course, so please be prepared to provide support in any portion of the course. As much as possible, YWCA Bike Leads will work with you prior to race day to accommodate your preference of where to be positioned along the course.

We hope to have this slot completely covered by a sea of purple! Come cheer on your friends and show your Katie pride!

There are also other volunteer opportunities if you do not wish to participate along the bike course.

Team Katie is now 100 strong, but there is always room for more! There is still time to get in on trainings and compete on race day with President Roloff. Why join?

  • Live out the St. Kate's mission and join hundreds of other racers in demonstrating the strength in all women.
  • All Team Katie members get a free training shirt to wear on race day in a display of Katie solidarity!
  • St. Kate's students will receive a $50 gift certificate to the University bookstore when they sign up! Current students, just send your paid registration receipt to Stacy Jacobson at ssjacobson@stkate.edu.
  • Plus, the YWCA Women's Triathlon is famous for its welcoming and supportive environment – you'll be cheered on by more than 3,500 spectators and 300 volunteers.
  • Did we mention you get to race with President Roloff? Come be on Becky's team!

The triathlon will be held August 13, 2017 at Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis.

Join the St. Kate’s Student Tri Club for training support! Meet them:

  • Tuesdays, 12:15–1:15 p.m., swim in Butler pool
  • Wednesdays, 5–6 p.m., bike in Butler dance studio
  • Thursdays, 5:15–6:15 p.m., run

The YWCA also offers a free 12-week training plan, clinics and classes to help you prepare.

What are you training for? The Full Triathlon is a 500-yard swim, a 15.5-mile bike and a 5k run/walk. The SuperSprint Triathlon is a 200-yard swim, a 7.3 mile bike and a 1-mile run/walk. You can participate individually or compete with friends.
