Join St. Kate's Team at the Women's Triathlon!

Let's show our Katie pride and celebrate the strength in all women at the YWCA’s 10th annual Women’s Triathlon, Sunday, August 13!


Register by May 19—use St. Kate’s Team for “Employer, Alma Mater” and use promo code StKate at payment.


  • St. Kate's Students, Faculty and Staff

    Join President Roloff and compete with the St. Kate's team.

    Expect a sea of purple at the YWCA Women's Triathlon this year! Our goal is to have at least 100 St. Kate's students, faculty and staff join President Roloff to train and compete with the St. Kate's team. Why join?

    • All St. Kate's team members get a free training shirt to wear on race day in a display of Katie solidarity!
    • St. Kate's students will receive a $50 gift certificate to the University bookstore when they sign up! Current students, just send your paid registration receipt to Stacy Jacobson at ssjacobson@stkate.edu.
    • You'll have a built-in support system throughout the training process, with convenient on-campus meet-ups happening each week!
    • Plus, the YWCA Women's Triathlon is famous for its welcoming and supportive environment—you'll be cheered on by more than 3,500 spectators and 300 volunteers.

    Register as a member of St. Kate's team by May 19.

    Make sure you're counted as a Katie! When registering for the triathlon through the YWCA's online form, don’t forget to register as a member of the St. Kate’s team by entering St. Kate's Team in the the “Employer, Alma Mater, etc” field and use the promo code StKate at the payment page to receive $10 off your registration when you sign up before May 19.

    The triathlon will be held August 13, 2017 at Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis.

Join the St. Kate’s Student Tri Club for training support! Meet them:

  • Tuesdays, 12:15–1:15 p.m., swim in Butler pool
  • Wednesdays, 5–6 p.m., bike in Butler dance studio
  • Thursdays, 5:15–6:15 p.m., run

The YWCA also offers a free 12-week training plan, clinics and classes to help you prepare.

What are you training for? The Full Triathlon is a 500-yard swim, a 15.5-mile bike and a 5k run/walk. The SuperSprint Triathlon is a 200-yard swim, a 7.3 mile bike and a 1-mile run/walk. You can participate individually or compete with friends.

    Prefer to show your Katie pride by "serving the dear neighbor"? We're also hoping for a big St. Kate's contingent in the tri volunteer crew, and you can expect some free Katie swag as a thank you!

    Take advantage of these volunteer opportunities for individuals or groups, both in advance of and during race weekend.

    • Sign making: Thursday, July 27, noon–3 p.m.
    • Flyer distribution in race course neighborhoods: Sunday, July 30, times flexible
    • Post signage on race course: Sunday, August 6, times flexible
    • Race packet stuffing: Tuesday, August 8, noon–5 p.m.
    • A variety of opportunities during race weekend: Thursday, August 10–Sunday August 13, including at the special St. Kate’s Bike Course from 7 a.m.–noon on race day.

    All opportunities with descriptions, dates, times, locations and registration can be found at the triathlon volunteer sign-up page.

    If you are volunteering for a spot other than the special St. Kate's Bike Course spot, please list "St. Kate's" in the Special Notes and Physical Limitations field, or use your St. Kate's email address.
