The online public health bachelor’s degree at St. Catherine University builds a strong foundation in public health skills and knowledge. Choose a concentration that suits your interests: community health worker (CHW) or public policy.
In the community health worker concentration, you will earn a CHW certificate, a recognized professional credential. You’ll learn to connect community members to resources to improve their health and gain skills in health communication, cultural competency, health education and promotion, and emergency response and preparedness. You’ll get real-world experience through service learning and an 80-hour practicum experience. For eligible CHW students, scholarship support is available.
Choose the public policy concentration if you are interested in health policy, social and political conditions that impact public health and health disparities, or are preparing for a graduate degree in law, occupational therapy or other areas.
Our undergraduate degrees are the first in the State of Minnesota to receive the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accreditation. You will gain skills to:
- Collect and interpret epidemiologic data and research
- Address health disparities among populations
- Understand principles and techniques of statistical analysis
- Develop coalitions across different organizations and communities to advance l community health
- Listen to community members and partner with them in the design and evaluation of health promotion programs
At St. Catherine University, you can accelerate your bachelor degree into a master degree. A fast-track, “3+2’ dual degree option is available for students who want to combine a bachelor’s in public health with the Master of Public Health in Global Health.
