The St. Catherine University and University of Saint Thomas School of Social Work was named tenth in the “35 Best Value Christian Colleges with CSWE-accredited Programs 2015” by Social Work Degree Guide.
Editors highlighted the St. Kate’s–St. Thomas collaborative “for its vast alumni network and impressive 20–year return on investment.” For the purpose of ranking, Social Work Degree Guide limited the pool of schools to ones that carried Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)-accredited programs.
From a list of over 150 schools considered, final rankings were weighted by five key indicators: accreditation date (the longer the school has been accredited, the higher the points), CSWE accreditation, student-to-faculty ratio, Pay Scale return on investment (based on 20-year ROI), and undergraduate tuition.
Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. captured the top spot, followed by Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Other Minnesota schools on the Top 35 list include Augsburg College (7) and Bethel University (31).
Sponsored jointly by St. Catherine University and the University of St. Thomas, the nationally ranked and accredited social work degree programs are rooted in a philosophy of social responsibility and respect for human rights. The programs prepare students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels for ethical social work practice and leadership in multiple settings and with diverse populations, with classes meeting at campuses for both universities. Degrees are offered at the bachelor’s, master and doctoral level.
