Celebrate the 100th anniversary of Finland's independence with four of the most beloved ladies of the Finnish music world!
Direct from Finland, Maiji Kauhanen is a dynamic, one-women band and virtuoso of the Saarijärvi kantele (Finnish harp). Violinist/vocalist Sara Pajunen (USA) and accordionist Teija Niku (Finland) join musical forces in Aallotar, a chamber folk ensemble with a contemporary Finnish twist. And Diane Jarvi, known in Finland as the Minnesotan Satakieli (Nightingale), blends her compositions and poetry into haunting acoustic melodies.
Since 1983, FinnFest USA has provided “Finnish Americans and their progeny an opportunity to meet one another and to broaden and deepen their knowledge of Finland and Finnish American history and culture.” In contemporary times, Finnish Americans have multi-cultural families and friendships, and progeny has come to mean "America."
(Discounts for FinnFest Members, Students, Seniors, St. Kate Faculty, Staff & Alumnae, MPR/TPT Members, and Military personnel available.)
