Indigenous Peoples' Day Documentary Film Screening & Discussion

Celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day with a screening of the documentary Libros y Nubes ("Books & Clouds"), which gives viewers an inside look at a library network that spans over 500 rural Indigenous communities in the mountains of Peru. Winner of 11 international awards, Libros y Nubes will be shown in Spanish with English subtitles, and followed by a panel discussion on library services and colonialism.

Featured panelists for the discussion after the film are:

  • Jody Gray (Lakota-Sioux), Librarian, and Director for the ALA’s Office of Diversity and Literacy Outreach Services.
  • Edwin Schenk (Lakota-Sioux and Ojibwa), Instruction Librarian at Capella University.

Light refreshments will be served.

This event is hosted by the MLIS Program, MLIS Student Governance Organization (SGO) and the Graduate Student Advisory Board (GSAB).
