As part of their Science on Screen program, the Film Society presents a showing of Marie Curie – The Courage of Knowledge. Directed by Marie Noelle, the 2016 film depicts the life and career of the eponymous scientist, teacher, and feminist, as well as the first woman to win the Nobel Prize.
Following the film, a panel of experts will discuss the present gender gap in science, technology, engineering and mathematics industries, and what initiatives are underway to promote greater equality. Speakers include Minneapolis technology consultant Kristen Womack and St. Kate's physics faculty member Dr. Kaye Smith.
There will be a second showing on Friday, April 28, at 7p.m in Founders Hall, Metro State University (400 Maria Ave, St. Paul, MN 55106).
