As part of the yearly Amy Marie Sears Visiting Artist program, Mihret Kebede will be delivering a public lecture: Art, Activism and My Community. This lecture is in conjunction with her performance of A Reciprocal of John Cage's 4'33" on September 27.
This event is free and open to the public.
Established in memory of Amy Marie Sears, a promising 1995 studio art major who passed away in 1997, the annual Amy Marie Sears Memorial Visiting Artist Series invites a distinguished artist to St. Catherine University for a short-term residency.
Mihret Kebede was born in Dessie, Ethiopia, and graduated from Addis Ababa University School of Fine Arts and Design. She was recognized as best practicing female artist in 2013 by the Ethiopian Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Her work defies disciplinary boundaries. She is also a poet and conceptual artist who frequently collaborates with other artists in Africa and Europe.
