- August 19, 9 a.m.–12 p.m. Inclusive Syllabus Inclusive Pedagogy with Ilene Alexander.
- August 24, 9–11:30 a.m. The Person You Mean to Be: How Good People Fight Bias, presented by Denise Silva. Please RSVP to join this session.
- August 26, 10–11:30 a.m. “I’m woke. You’re woke. So what is there to talk about?” Navigating challenging conversations in face-to-face and online environments (with less pain and guilt). Presented by Senenge T. Andzenge and Paul Ching, of the Center for Educational Innovation at the University of Minnesota.
Faculty Staff Institute (September 1–3)
Our theme for this year is Our Clarion Call: Inclusive Leadership. Event highlights include the following.
September 1
- 1–2 p.m. Leadership Opening, featuring updates from members of Senior Leadership on the Academic Master Plan, COVID-19 response and planning, and Inclusive Excellence.
- 2:30–4 p.m. Dare to Lead Book Discussion, led by Provost Council and volunteers. Book available through the Ramsey and Hennepin County Library systems.
September 2
9 a.m.–5 p.m. Crossroads anti-racism training, an introduction to systemic racism facilitated by Crossroads.
- Participants to this workshop will gain shared language and frameworks with which to grapple not only their unwitting legitimization of systemic racism but with what committing to the work of dismantling racism and of cultivating antiracist culture and practice in their institutions will require. They will be introduced to a strategic methodology that can assist them to organize the work of dismantling racism in the institutions in which they are invested.

September 3
- 9–10:30 a.m. Keynote address: Meredith Woo, PhD, President of Sweet Briar College, will share her journey of leadership as a woman and as a woman of color.
- 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Equity and Inclusion Table of Experts, a panel discussion on equity and inclusion that will discuss what skills employers want to see and develop in our students, and ask, how do we prepare and develop Inclusive leaders? Featured at the table will be:
- Angel Uddin, Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota;
- Tracey Walker, National Director Government Affairs; Culture Diversity and Inclusion, RSM;
- Cecilia Stanton Adams, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Allianz Life.
- 2–3:30 p.m. Teaching the Leadership Core, The Sweet Briar Story, presented by Teresa Garrett, Dean of Sweet Briar College.
