Per MDH guidelines, masks can be removed for eating and drinking, so long as individuals are seated and at least six (6) feet apart. Masks must be worn when not eating or drinking, including while in line to receive food.
Eating and drinking are not permitted in classrooms during active class or lab times to ensure that all members of the class wear face coverings. During designated breaks, students and faculty may remove their masks to eat and/or drink in their assigned classroom as long as they remain in their assigned seat and maintain a strict social distance of 6 feet from others. Masks must be worn when class resumes. This allows students and faculty who are not comfortable in the classroom/lab while people are unmasked to leave. All faculty should notify the class when a break is about to begin and give students a chance to leave the classroom if they choose before anyone removes their mask.
