Muna originally wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps and get a nursing degree from St. Kate’s. But during her junior year, Muna decided to switch majors — and she had to work to convince her mother of her new interest: electronic media studies.
“I ended up taking some time off and traveling to Cairo, Egypt, with my mom. I think the trip gave her the necessary time and space to see that this wasn’t just a hobby; this was something that I wanted to make a future out of.”
“I am helping to produce a documentary-style interview series with five St. Kate’s students that highlights their stories and experiences learning in a liberal arts environment. We’re combing elements of photography, video and animation to capture the essential aspects of their growth and their journeys to become who they are today.”
“I want to own my own production company that focuses on the stories of women and people of color. I believe that sharing these kinds of stories is the key to changing people’s perspectives about certain places or groups of people. The more that people hear stories from different walks of life, the more accepting they will become.”
