Kathrine originally resonated with St. Kate’s mission to educate women to lead and influence, but then discovered the evening, weekend and online courses. The College for Adults flexible schedule made it easier to pursue her education while holding down a fulltime job. “Everyone is supportive,” she says. “St. Kate’s professors truly want to see their students succeed.”
After taking a financial accounting course, Kathrine was hooked. “I love the absolute nature of numbers. There is always a right solution and balancing them out feels like solving a puzzle.”
This summer, Kathrine started a new position as an audit associate at CliftonLarsonAllen accounting firm in downtown Minneapolis. She’s excited for the opportunity to do financial auditing for higher education and nonprofit organizations.
Get to know your classmates and professors, she says. “Building rapport with the community helps you become successful.” Another tip from Kathrine: Don’t be afraid to ask questions. “If you’re unsure, other students probably are as well.”
