The Federal TEACH Grant Program provides grant funding for students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school which serves low-income families. A maximum of $4,000 per year is available. Certain conditions and requirements apply to this program. We encourage any student who has been offered a Federal TEACH Grant as part of their financial aid award, or who thinks they may qualify for a Federal TEACH Grant, to carefully and thoroughly review the following information before committing to the program.
All students who wish to participate in the program must complete entrance counseling and an Agreement to Serve (ATS) on an annual basis. Students who fail to meet the terms of the Federal TEACH Grant program will have their grant revert to a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan, with interest retroactive to the point of disbursement of the grant.
Please note that students who are completing an undergraduate post-baccalaureate program at St. Catherine’s are not eligible for the Federal TEACH Grant program. Similarly, students who plan to teach as a generalist (across all subject areas) in an elementary school do not meet the requirements of the grant program.
