Julie Beckel Nelsen, ’91, MBA, is the primary Sales faculty for the Business to Business Sales and the Healthcare Sales majors. As an Assistant Professor in the Business Administration Department, Nelsen instructs courses in sales, global business, management, marketing and the core curriculum. Within the School of Business and Professional Studies at St. Catherine University, she also serves as an adviser. Her teaching priority is to create a strong connection between the classroom and the workplace. She does this by bringing the business world to her classroom through speakers, work-world examples, role plays and other hands-on learning opportunities. She is excited to be a part of preparing students for successful and rewarding careers.

Prior to joining St. Catherine University’s Business Administration department, Nelsen enjoyed industry experience working in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. Nearly 18 years of that experience was at a leading international communications, media and automotive services company with revenues of more than $18 billion dollars. She followed that experience by becoming an entrepreneur, but ultimately was drawn back to St. Catherine University where she knew the positive impact she could make for other women.

Nelsen’s scholarship focuses on sales, marketing, management, business communications and the pedagogy of these disciplines.
