I received my BA from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1969 with an individual major in Language and Society; my MA from San Francisco State University in 1979 in English with a concentration in Teaching English as a Second Language; and my PhD from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in 1990 in Curriculum and Instruction. I have taught English, ESL, TESL, linguistics and writing at college/universities in San Francisco; Lublin, Poland; and Minneapolis/St. Paul. I have been teaching at St. Catherine since 1987.
