Janet Benz is currently licensed in as an RN and certified as a Public Health Nurse in MN. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Viterbo University in La Crosse, WI, a Master of Arts in Nursing with a focus on Transformational Leadership and a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Transcultural Nursing from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, MN. Ms. Benz also maintains certifications from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL as an EPEC Trainer – Education in Palliative and End of Life Care, Concordia College in Moorhead, MN as a Faith Community Nurse and from the QPR Institute in Seattle, WA as a QPR Instructor for Question, Persuade, Refer Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training.
She is an Assistant Professor of Interprofessional Education at St. Catherine’s University, St. Paul, MN and the St. Catherine University Coordinator for the Clinical Scholar Program at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. Ms Benz is a member of the Transcultural Nursing Society, the ELPNA Parish Nurse Association, the Women’s Health Leadership Trust, Wilder Foundation Caregivers Network and NAMI-MN. She is the chair of the Christopher Benz Foundation and served as a member of the Minnesota State Suicide Prevention Planning Committee for the Minnesota Department of Health in 2014.
