Donna DeGracia is a physician assistant with a background in family practice and urgent care. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings including several community clinics serving immigrant and refugee and other underserved populations. Her undergraduate education was in art and international studies followed by time in the Peace Corps where she developed an interest in teaching and health care, especially global health.
She obtained her certificate in physician assistant certificate from Wake Forest University and then her master’s degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Nebraska. Her master’s research project focused on barriers to health care faced by minority populations in the Twin Cities. She was involved in PA education for 11 years prior to joining the faculty at St. Kate’s
Donna joined St. Catherine University first as a consultant to help develop the PA curriculum in 2010, and then as the Curriculum Coordinator in 2011.

Donna DeGracia has been the recipient of the PA Foundation Global Outreach Grant in 2007 and 2017 for work in Nicaragua and Zambia, GHR Foundation scholarship grant for case studies on global partnerships, and St. Catherine University course development grant in 2013.
The integrated curriculum of the St. Catherine University MPAS program requires close collaboration among faculty, providing an opportunity for all faculty to teach within each didactic course. Courses are arranged by body system, population, and care setting. Donna DeGracia was instrumental in developing all courses in the curriculum and teaches in most, if not all courses every year.
