I completed my BA degree at Central College in Pella, Iowa in 1994. After teaching middle school science in Northwest Iowa for a year, I worked in healthcare and completed some prerequisite courses for a short time before entering the University of Iowa Physician Assistant Program. I completed my Masters degree in 1999. My entire healthcare career as a PA has been in family medicine. I worked as a full time PA in rural Iowa for about 10 years before moving to the St Paul area. I spent a year in full-time practice at a clinic in St. Paul before moving into academia with Augsburg College's PA program. I continue to work at my St. Paul family practice clinic one day per week. I left Augsburg last year to come to St. Kate's new PA program to work with my amazing colleagues.
