St. Catherine is the only university in Minnesota that offers majors and minors in both Business Sales and Healthcare Sales. Every year, our sales students complete valuable internships at many of Minnesota's leading corporations and organizations, including 3M, Upsher-Smith, Ecolab, Medtronic, Boston Scientific and others. Many of these internships turn into full-time job opportunities; others help students land permanent positions with other leading employers.

Our sales students compete on national stages with students from other universities across the country. Students prepare extensively for the real world experience of selling a product or service at a competition and the benefit of feedback from professionals who are judges.
Business Conferences and Tours
Throughout the year, our students participate in many of the leading business, medical device, healthcare and other conferences that are regularly offered in the Twin Cities.
Our renowned professors use their industry contacts to regularly bring in regionally and nationally known guest speakers into our classrooms. Recent speakers have included professionals from 3M, ING, Thomson-Reuters, Upsher-Smith, Enterprise, Comcast, SuperValu, the St. Paul Saints baseball team and others.
Skills in the Classroom
Students are learning skills in their classes that have an immediate impact on their careers. Business tools that organizations use in their operations are taught in the Sales curriculum.
St Kate’s is a member of Collegiate DECA, where students enhance their business acumen even more beyond the classroom with case studies, simulations and competitions.
The Katies Entrepreneur Organization (KEO) is an active student business club with a variety of excellent guest speakers and topics that enhance the experience of our students.
St. Kate's social media lab, in Mendel 110, provides students access to twenty-four Mac minis, three multi-unit collaboration stations and two Smart Boards, which are compatible with a built in PC, Mac or laptop. The lab provides multimedia software for creating and editing videos, photography, and social media production. It is also wired for surround sound and recording, providing the ability to bring in students and presenters through Skype and Oovoo as well as record classes and presentations, or create podcasts.
The recording lab, in Mendel 100, is a recording booth set up with a large flat screen display, sound bar and adjustable camera. This room can be used for practice interviews, sales competitions, or any presentation recording.
The recording lab includes access to SpeakEasy—unique role play software is used to train new hires at companies like Shell, Ecolab, Thompson Reuters, and U.S. Bank of America.
We offer many leading professional development, training and networking opportunities for women sales executives and emerging sales leaders. Our professional development programs are open to all women interested in continuing to enhance their sales skills and professional networks.
The Women' Sales Leaders Program
The Women' Sales Leaders Program is designed to develop the leadership skills of emerging women sales leaders. The nine-month program provides you with opportunities to learn new business and sales skills, to expand your professional network, as well as time for personal exploration and growth.
The program is facilitated by St Kate’s adjunct professor and business leader Margaret Smith. Several companies send new participants each year since seeing the impact the program has with their women leaders.
The Sales Executive Forum
The Sales Executive Forum is a monthly breakfast series designed by sales executives for sales executives like you. Important topics such as managing a remote work force, effective sales leadership, improving negotiation skills and innovation in the work place, are examples of the relevant issues our members learn about from expert speakers.
Our goal is to foster a community of enlightened and seasoned sales leaders who are taking their teams through sales force transformations. We seek to share best practices, exchange tools and techniques, and discuss successes and failures.
Companies are invited to join St. Catherine University and current business partners in a consortium to support the Center for Sales Innovation, based on mutually supportive goals.
Participation by key sales executives and sales development managers is critical to successful outcomes from the center. Senior sales executives provide strategic direction to the center for curriculum, research, and continuing education programs. Sales development managers work closely with center staff to ensure access to students for internships and employment.
