Our coursework helps you tackle the challenges and opportunities you’re experiencing in your classroom right now. Our graduates work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, advocate for their students, and implement reflective teaching practices. You will be able to identify and build students’ strengths, address varied learning styles, and design and evaluate curricula that meet the needs of individual students in the classroom.
St. Kate's 31-credit MAED program for licensed educators is completed in five consecutive terms (19-21 months). You will choose one of three concentrations:

After a 1-day* kick-off event on our St. Paul campus, students complete most of their courses in an online format; some courses are offered in a hybrid format and include campus meetings combined with online learning.
Our graduate courses integrate case studies about your students, encourage you to reflect on your lessons and classroom management, guide you through the creation of interdisciplinary lessons and teach you to better utilize current technology to enhance the education you provide for your students. In your final action research project, you’ll dig deep into a topic of your choosing that will push you to become a more effective, ethical teacher-leader.

In the 2016-17 academic year, the tuition rate for the MAED for licensed educators is $495 per credit. Tuition rates are subject to change each June 1. Additional costs for the program will include fees for student services and technology, books, etc.
Many graduate students are eligible for financial aid, usually in the form of student loans (please note that students enrolled in the graduate STEM certificate are not eligible to participate in state and federal financial aid programs, including federal student loan programs). Another potential source of funding is tuition benefits from current employers. In addition, some students may qualify for a STEM scholarship or an award from the Speranza Fund.
