what will I study?

In the St. Kate’s Applied Science in Communication Studies dual degree program, you will combine communication studies classes with MAOT pre-requisite courses in biology, psychology and mathematics or economics.

  • In communication studies classes such as "Women and Social Change," you will explore concepts of gender identity, rhetorical analysis, critical theory and media criticism.
  • "Speaking to Lead and Influence" will help you develop your ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations — the key to success for professional communicators.
  • You will become familiar with the key biological systems of the body as you study the core principles of "Human Anatomy and Physiology."
  • "Lifespan Developmental Psychology" will introduce you to the interplay of psychology, heredity and environment to understand physical, cognitive, social and emotional changes across the human lifespan.

You are eligible to apply for the MAOT program in your junior year, and once accepted, will take occupational therapy introductory courses in your senior year.
