what can I do with a degree in Accounting?

Nearly all St. Kate’s accounting majors secure jobs in their field within two months of graduation. We will prepare you for many career options, including:

  • public accounting
  • management accounting
  • government accounting
  • tax accounting
  • internal auditing

You will also have the foundation you need to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Accounting is also a basic preparation for fraud examiners, consultants and managers in non-accounting areas.

Getting a bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Kate's will position you for graduate studies in business administration.

what will I study?

A St. Kate’s accounting major combines a solid foundation in the theories and practices of accounting, with general business courses such as business law and economics. You will learn introductory financial and managerial accounting principles, as well as accounting concepts such as the International Financial Reporting Standards, income tax and auditing.

Classes involve discussion, case studies, teamwork and ethics — a curricular commitment that has made us a model for other universities. You conduct an actual audit in the auditing course. Plus, you’ll apply classroom knowledge at a real business in our supervised internship course, “Accounting Practicum.” St. Kate’s faculty will match you with a company through our Entrepreneur Internship and Professional Partnership programs.
