Develop as an Artist in a Supportive Environment

A major in studio art at St. Kate's begins with introductory art courses to give you a foundation before specializing in one or more areas, including painting, photography, graphic design, and sculpture. Portfolio reviews occur during sophomore and junior years to develop your strengths and allow formal feedback from professors.

During your senior year, the Senior Seminar course teaches you how to continue and thrive as an artist, concluding with a juried exhibition at the Catherine G. Murphy Gallery.

Along the way you will have opportunities to learn from visiting artists, the Women’s Art Institute, and trips to local art museums.
