Classroom Experience Integrated in the Curriculum

As an elementary education major, you’ll study:

  • general teaching methods

  • school and chemical health

  • literacy methods

  • methods in mathematics, science, and social studies

  • relationship techniques

  • STEM for elementary learners.

Our education programs integrate practical courses with an emphasis on fieldwork. As a teacher candidate, you’ll spend up to 50 hours gaining hands-on classroom experience each semester, beginning with the first class.

Students with an education degree from St. Catherine University get noticed. Many principals put St. Catherine University graduates’ résumés at the top of the pile when making hiring decisions. That’s not surprising — St. Kate's has been educating women to be teachers since 1905.
