Work Toward a Master's in Public Health or Physical Therapy

The Master of Public Health (MPH) and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs offer students the opportunity to enter the graduate program as undergraduate students in their senior year. You will be able to complete your bachelor's degree while pursuing the graduate degree.

As an applied science in exercise science major, you’ll complete the exercise science pre-physical therapy sequence of courses and supporting work for the DPT program on campus in St. Paul, MN. This includes courses in biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, physics, psychology, statistics, and mathematics, while providing a special emphasis in exercise science.

The exercise science program courses focus on developing an understanding of human movement, including the assessment of fitness levels, individual capabilities, movement, and injury. In addition to DPT prerequisite courses, students will take classes in areas such as exercise physiology, kinesiology, research methods, and the care and prevention of athletic injuries.

Once you’ve earned your applied science degree in exercise and sport science at St. Kate’s, you will have acquired the tools necessary to pursue further study in physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant studies, or public health. You’ll also be fully prepared to enter the workforce within the health and fitness industries in organizations such as:
