  • Erica Alley, PhD

    Associate Professor, ASL and Interpreting

    Erica Alley, Ph.D., NIC-Advanced, holds her degree in ASL/English Interpreting Research and Pedagogy from Gallaudet University. Erica has published and presented on the topics of video relay service, video remote interpreting, and interpretations of job interviews with deaf job applicants. Erica serves as the Program Director for the Master of Arts in Interpreting Studies and Communication Equity (MAISCE).

  • Gloria V. Nathanson, AuD

    Assistant Professor, ASL and Interpreting

    Dr. Gloria Nathanson, AuD is a Professor in the ASL/Interpreting Department at St. Catherine University, Minnesota. Her Bachelor of Science degree is in Language Development with emphasis on those with Hearing Loss. Her doctoral degree is in Audiology. She works primarily with adult second language learning students and with Deaf and Hard of Hearing children. She has been part of the Deaf Family Mentor program for over 5 years. She has an interdisciplinary certificate in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Infants, Toddlers and their Families: Collaboration and Leadership from Gallaudet University.

  • Laurie Swabey, PhD

    Professor, ASL and Interpreting

    Laurie Swabey is Professor of Interpreting at St. Catherine University and Director of the CATIE Center where she is the principal investigator on two federally funded projects related to interpreter education. She holds a PhD from the University of Minnesota in Linguistics and her research interests include interpreting pedagogy and healthcare interpreting. Publications include co-edited volumes Advances in Interpreting Research (John Benjamins) and Educating Healthcare Interpreters (Gallaudet University Press). In addition to several book chapters, she has also published in a variety of journals including Interpreting: International Journal of Research and Practice, Translation and Interpreting Studies, Journal of Healthcare Quality, Journal of Interpreting, and International Journal of Interpreter Education.
