Page 1: On this page, a marquee banner appears that could be used for interesting quotes or important school announcements. Javascript was added to this page that allows random pictures to be displayed each time it is viewed. This would serve to show the audience what is happening in the classroom and it also adds interest to the page. Along the bottom is a table that displays links to other pages of this site including parents, students, about the teacher, calendar and field trips. This feature serves to make the webpage user friendly and organized.
Page 2: This page includes volunteer information for parents. The link attached to this page that incorporates the use of javascript is the parent mini quiz titled, "Are you smarter than your sixth grader?" Information for this quiz was obtained at http://www.funtrivia.com/quizzes/sci__tech/math/mixed_math.html. This is a fun way to keep parents informed about what their child is learning about in class.
Page 3: The student page has a few features that I think sixth grade students would enjoy. Javascript was used so that when the user rolls over the image, it changes to show a second image. There are also links where students can go to play different games categorized by subject. As a teacher, I would likely change links frequently based on where we are at in the curriculum. Like the parent page, there is link that takes students to a page where they can do weekly review questions. Information for this quiz was obtained at http://math.about.com/cs/wordproblems/a/wp6.htm. Javascript was used to create this quiz.
Page 4: The calendar page was purposely kept simple so that it could be updated quickly as necessary.
Page 5: General information about field trips can be found on this page. Pictures are included as well as links the Minneapolis Art Institute, Minnesota History Center and Science Museum of Minnesota.
