1.) Do modern scientists know
how the pyramids were built?

2.) Were the pyramids created by aliens?

To finally see the pyramids in person was an amazing experience. Part of the reason that I chose to travel to Egypt during J-term, as opposed to participating in one of the many other study abroad opportunities, was because I knew that I needed to see the pyramids at some point during my lifetime.

In addition to remembering how majestic the pyramids were, I will always remember the persistent camel owners who prey on tourists near the pyramids. Before we left the tour bus, our guide warned us to avoid any contact with the camel owners. He told us that they would try and convince us to go for a camel ride by advertising a very low fee. If you are foolish enough to consent, he warned, you will be guaranteed an experience that you will never forget. The moment you are situated on the camel, the owner will slap the camel's backside. This action will cause the camel to race off into the desert with you hanging on for dear life! After you are successfully removed from modern civilization, the camel owner will force you to pay him an outrageous fee in order to bring you back to the pyramids.

Naturally, this cautionary tale convinced us to stay away from the camel owners. After visiting the pyramids up close, we were able to move to a more controlled area where our guide gave us permission to approach the camel owners. Thankfully, with the help of our local guide, I was able to get my picture on a camel near the pyramids without engaging in a wild adventure into the sand dunes.
