We visited the Sultan Hassan Mosque during our tour of the Islamic Quarter. The mosque was built around 1350AD, and it is one of the most celebrated monuments in the Islamic World.
The Al-Azhar Park is located near the Sultan Hassan Mosque. The park serves as a "green space" within Cairo, and it offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. Atop the grassy knolls, one can see the Ayyubid Citadel, Sultan Hassan Mosque, and a variety of other mosques located in Darb Al Ahmar. Our group spent the afternoon in the park enjoying Middle Eastern cuisine and sharing our group presentations about Naguib Mahfouz's novel Palace Walk .
