Throughout the 3 1/2 weeks, we traveled extensively. We began our journey in Cairo, and made side trips to Hurghada, Aswan, Luxor, and Alexandria. Due to fact that we spent about 60% of our time in Cairo, we became very familiar with the layout of the city. We knew where to find the best scarves and the freshest baklava. The culture of Egypt never failed to amaze us! |

One of our favorite evening activities was to visit "Scarf Alley." We would set out at dusk, because all of the best scarf sellers set up their wares at night. We would walk down the narrow alleyway surrounded by beautiful scarves of infinite patterns, textures, and colors. Once we found a scarf that we liked, we would begin the bargaining process. Since we were experienced travelers in Egypt, we knew when the vendors were trying to take advantage of us. After 3 1/2 weeks, we knew exactly what a well made Pashmina scarf was worth, and we refused to pay the outrageous prices that the vendors advertised to tourists! |
