Let's Live Healthy Together! |
|
The first step is to eat a healthy, well balanced diet. Yes, I know this is told to Americans all the time, but with a large obesity rate in children, we obviously don't listen. Every body has special needs because everyone is different. In 2005, the FDA came out with a new food pyramid that no longer gave exact amounts but proportions for all people. It also took into account another extremely important aspect of heart health, EXERCISE! To really see exactly how you should eat and exercies go to mypyramid.gov. In addition, quitting smoking and avoiding nicotene is a large way way to help alleviate heart problems :) Another important aspect for women pregnant with child with heart defects, is to ensure healthy eating habits, taking prenatal vitamins, and getting lots of rest and fluids. There is not much to do while being pregnant, but mom must stay healthy in order to avoid going into labor prematurely and complicate things even more. With the right care, all should work out! |
