Get to Know Your Photographer

Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved to look
at photographs and imagine the scene that occurred
before, during, and after each image was taken. I've
always loved the idea that a photograph could truly
"capture a moment in time"... not just the image, but
the feeling and action of the moment itself. I started
actively pursuing my hobby as a junior in high school,
taking classes on black and white film, learning how to
properly expose and develop my own photographs in a darkroom.

Upon graduation, I chose to turn my passion for
photography into a full-time career, graduating
from Boston University’s Center for Digital Imaging
Arts (CDIA). In addition to learning all aspects
of digital photography, including portraiture,
product, marketing, event, sports, indoor and
outdoor architecture, working with models, and
wedding photography, I also became proficient in
Adobe Photoshop CS3, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Bridge,
and Final Cut Pro.

My style is different from most photographers in the
Central Minnesota area. I have a more "capture life
as it happens" feel and try to stay away from more
posed, contrived looks. My favorite thing to hear
about my work is that it is real. I do not think it
matters where you photograph - but the connection you
are able to make with your subjects. I love working
with people - and I hope it shows in my work.

I am just me. I feel more comfortable in blue jeans
and flip flops than dress suits and high heels. My
clients are more than a number, a paycheck, or even
just a client; they become a member of this family
that I am building. I am honored when someone allows
me the privilege of sharing their wedding day with
them or asks me to document the first year(s) of their
child's life. More than anything, I want my clients
to feel like I am an old friend.

I wouldn't be where I am today without my family,
friends and clients, so it is with all my heart that
I say THANK YOU to them for everything they've done
for me and for everything they continue to do.

Always,
Laura
